Support with job applications, cv writing, specific disability support advisors available.

YMCA Positive Placements

This mentoring scheme involves working with young people to improve confidence, build life skills, and write CVs to move on to education, training, or employment. Available for young people aged 16 and 25, unemployed, not in education or training, and claiming a benefit, who are living in Horsham, Crawley, Mid Sussex, Brighton & Hove, or Guildford.

Youth Advice Centre (YAC)

The YMCA Youth Advice Centre (YAC) offers advice, support and guidance to young people in Brighton and Hove. YAC workers are able to offer expertise in a wide range of areas. Our aim is to provide young people in the local area with a safe and friendly environment where they can access helpful advice and support.

Brighton Unemployed Centre Families Project

Provide practical support, education, advice and more to those in poverty, in poor living conditions, benefit claimants, the unwaged, pensioners, families and those on low incomes and suffering social exclusion and poor wellbeing.

Moneyworks, Brighton And Hove

Help Brighton & Hove residents save money, make money and manage their money better. The services are for anyone who is struggling to make ends meet.

Money Advice Plus

Can offer one-off face to face or telephone appointments to anyone who lives in Brighton & Hove, to advise about debt. Will go through individual’s situation, and give the information and advice they need to enable them to deal with their debts.

Welfare Rights, Brighton And Hove Council

Aim to help you get the most from your benefits by giving benefit advice and information, and also linking with other services.

Brighton And Hove Citizens Advice

Citizens Advice Brighton & Hove gives independent, impartial, free and confidential information and advice. They help people overcome the problems they face, such as claiming benefits, managing debt, employment issues, housing, relationships and immigration issues.

CASE Central

CASE (Community, Advice, Support and Education) offer various other kinds of practical support to people who would be otherwise isolated. Before the Covid crisis CASE Central had been a space for socialising, offering free tea/coffee, free bread/snacks, free clothes, free telephone for welfare purposes, and free computer access for benefits purposes. CASE Central has also offered free Welfare Rights advice to benefits and Tax Credit claimants from Brighton and Hove and sometimes fuinto West Sussex or Surrey.

St Lukes Advice Service

St Luke’s Advice Service is a registered charity, providing free welfare benefit and debt advice to people in need across the city of Brighton & Hove.

Clock Tower Sanctuary

For 16-25 year olds who are rough sleeping, ‘sofa surfing’ or living in temporary or emergency housing. The Clock Tower Sanctuary is a safe space where you can relax and do day-to-day things that can be difficult when you don’t have a place to call home – like cooking, showering and laundry. They can also support young people with practicalities like getting sorted with a doctor, benefits and finding a job.

Possability People

Possability People offers a wide range of support and advice to disabled people, their families, friends, and carers. The team are experts, and most of them have a lived experience of being disabled or living with a long term health condition. We support people who live in Brighton, Hove and East Sussex.

Amaze Sussex

Amaze support families that include a child or young person with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) across Sussex. They work with parent carers and with children and young people with SEND. Including Amazing Futures Careers Support.

Youth Employability Service

Support for young people not in education, employment or training in Brighton and Hove with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) aged 16 to 25.

WEST SUSSEX

Find It Out Centres

Support all young people in West Sussex aged between 11-19. They also support Young people up to 25 with additional needs or who have experienced care – SEND. They can provide young people with Information, advice and guidance by answering any questions they may have. They can help young people to find local services, make referrals and talk about their needs.

Youth Emotional Support (YES) Service

Youth Emotional Support (YES) is a free service for young people aged 11-18 looking for support with their wellbeing.

West Sussex Careers Team

The Careers Team in West Sussex can provide free information, advice, guidance and support if you live in West Sussex, are aged 16-18, or 16-25 with an Education, Health and Care plan (EHCP) and are not in employment, education or training.

The Information Shop for Young People

The Information Shop offers emotional support to people aged 11 to 25 years old in Chichester. Their workers are trained to offer advice on complex issues, such as housing, employment and debt, as well as being skilled in offering a listening ear.

Employment support service. EmployAbility helps to find work placements, volunteer opportunities and paid work for disabled people, autistic people, those with sensory needs and those with mental health problems.
